  1. Music. Any and every type of music, any and every thing that is musical. 😀
  2. A bright sunny day and a holiday at work! Bliss! 🙂
  3. Movies. I am a crazy sucker for movies. If I see the beginning titles of a movie, i have to have to see it till the end. I can watch a movie at any time of the day.
  4. Delicious food. I am a true foodie. 🙂 I get a sense of satisfaction and achievement both by eating and cooking good food.
  5. I am the kind of person who enjoys solitude. So a fine Sunday with a book of my choice, a cuppa coffee and no one to disturb would be a dream come true.
  6. I like cleaning. Yeah i know this is totally un-dude’ish’. But it feels like an eternal cleansing after I do my weekly cleaning. 🙄
  7. I enjoy travelling. Seeing new places, abating the curiosity about a new culture, a new cuisine or a new location sparks me up!
  8. I relish sleeping. It is like one of my favorite hobbies and the least expensive of all 😉 😛 Although I dont remember my dreams at all, may be I just enjoy the whole idea of being disconnected with the rest of the world for sometime. (Actually a quite a lot of time 😀 )

28 Feb

It is raining awards! I am yet to track back how did it all start. But, well, I am really not complaining to be the recipient of so many awards!! 😛

Both these awards have been given to me by dear Megzy… Thank you!!

Rules of Accepting the Award: Pass the love to those in your blog roll.

Rules to accept the award:

And now 7 honest confessions  😛

  1. I am mostly content with what I am and what I have. In some aspects, this is good, but in some, it really turns out to my disadvantage. 😳
  2. I am really really bad at keeping in touch with people. Many a times I get tagged as a snob due to this. But then, due to point 1, I don’t feel like changing. 😉
  3. I have a terrible memory when it comes to birthdays, anniversaries or any special occasion. One of my good friends recently called me on her birthday and asked me to wish her as she knew I would not remember! Hmmph! 😈
  4. I am still extremely fond of toy cars. I can play with them with the same enthusiasm as I used to play with them as a kid. (Yeah right! I know what you’re saying – When did I grow up? )
  5. I am not a party animal at all. Loud music, crowd and smoke and all of that together is totally enough to keep me away from it. 🙂
  6. I am a lazy bloke. It takes a lot of instigation and will for me to take up something seriously like going to the gym, writing a post, bla bla bla.. 😆
  7. I am not superstitious about numbers, But I dislike the number 7 although it is considered to be the luckiest of all the number systems. 🙄

Time to pass on the baton. So I nominate the following fellow bloggers and friends for both the above awards:-

Congratulations friends.. Cheers! 🙂

[V-Day Carnival] – Jugalbandi :-)

25 Feb

The V-Day carnival is undoubtedly the biggest blockbuster of all the carnivals I have seen so far. And we are all aware of the velocity and enthusiasm with which our dear Megz has participated in the carnival dishing out one lovely poem after another.

While I was commenting on one of her recent posts on her corporate blog, I realized that there have been so many poem-to-poem interactions in the comments section of both of our posts between Megz and me that it has unknowingly formed a sort of Jugalbandi. 😯

So, my insane mind thought of compiling our merciless fits of poetic eruptions and so this post was born… 🙄

This was what happened on Not me!

love doesnt alter wind nor water…
love doesnt stir any typhoon or tide…
it just happens when u least bother…
and takes you on a roller-coaster ride…

Love creates ripples in the silence of the stream,
And calmness of the zephyr hears a twisting scream.
I wish I could smile with these ripples, swift and fleeting,
As I open my eyes to the day after a hopeful and wishful dream

dreams are but reality of tomorrows..
love is the only medicine for all sorrows..
so drift away with stars in your eyes..
someday the Love-Sun too shall rise..

The Sun and the moon, the morn and the noon.
A celestial cacophony, full of cheerful screams.
Through the looking glass, I look out of the cocoon,
I see a frenzy heart tip-toeing silent dreams.

a tip-toeing heart shall seize yours too..
love u deserve would be delivered to you..
let not the maddening world impair happy thoughts..
i pray pretty soon you have ur share of Love-Clots

When my heart’d skip a beat, and mind set free,
I would wait steadily for that moment to come,
Amidst a pandemonium of desires and dreams,
I would still have a sweet n humble tune to hum!

Perfect one when you shall meet
Thy cacophonic heart shall skip a beat..
A clearest voice shall then be heard..
The Whole world shall appear blurred…
Mind at rest, turmoil clears
Then my friend, I shall say Cheers..!!

To imagine those words is nothing but bliss sheer,
However, it doesnt seem to be happening in future near,
I’d wait for the sunshine and for the haze to be clear,
I just want to Thank you for being my friend so dear..

And this is what happened on Do You..???

pyar karte hai tho jatana chahiye..
Dil ki baat dilbar ko batana chahiye..
wo pyar hi kyaa jiska izhaar na ho..
ishq mein yaar ko lubhaana bhi chahiye..

Maana ke pyaar mein haal-e-dil bayaan karna padta hai,
Lafzon se mausiqi ka rishta kaayam karna padta hai.
Magar woh ishq ishq hi kya mere doston,
Jise dilbar ki chahat mein baar baar jataana padta hai?

pyaar jatane mein khaami kya hai?
mehboob ko batane mein khaami kya hai?
ek pyar bhare lafz se ho gar use khushi..
tho us khushi ko badhane mein khaami kyaa hai?

Jo Muhabbat Intezar main hain, woh Izhaar main kahan?

Picture abhi baaki hain mere dost.. The war is on…

P.S: SHE is the one who started it all the time. And ME is the one who last took to the meethi nok-jhok. So should I consider my victory? Or her defeat? 😈 🙄

P.P.S: As the Jugalbandi was about love, this surely qualifies as an entry to V-Day Carnival! Hai na?

P.P.P.S: I just realized that coincidentaly enough, the names of our posts are also doing Jugalbandi:-

                SHE: Do you..? 🙄

                ME: Not me!

[V – Day Carnival] – Not me!

11 Feb

The V-Day carnival is in full swing and it seems like the entire blog-o-sphere has been smitten by the mush bug. It is raining poems, photographs, stories and more. If you haven’t fallen in the pool yet, dive in. 🙂

This is my wee bit to the flow of love. Love – one word which has given so many poets a reason to write poems, innumerable stories to be immortal, a plethora of films unfolding various facets of it and for some it’s a reason to live while for others a reason to not. Blame it on the mush in the air that I am getting all philosophical! 😛 🙄

Anyway, let me share an anecdote. A few days back, I went to this mall close to my place with a friend of mine who wanted to shop for some formal wear. I am a certified shopping averse bloke. Although I know a lot of guys who ‘like’ shopping, I can never really understand that emotion. I have accompanied (read: played a driver + coolie) a number of times my mom, my sis, cousins, et al at their exorbitant shopping expeditions and I have always been amazed and mostly irritated by the amount of enthusiasm women have when it comes to shopping. Quarreling over colors, textures, matching perfection and after all the cogitation about the cost, women have all the energy left to gruel the poor man with their bargaining tactics. With guys, it is mostly plain and simple. The color is decided even before deciding what to shop for; the budget is decided (needless to say) even before deciding the color. All that is left is following three simple steps of this algorithm – go to the mall, pick the trouser/shirt/t-shirt/whatever of the decided color, pay and catch a movie. With women what transcends between the first and the last step is an epic and is beyond the confines of this post.

So coming back to my shopping experience – this friend of mine, as previously mentioned was absolutely clear on what he had to buy and from where he had to buy it. So, it was fairly simple to follow the algorithm. We went to the mall, he picked up the stuff, I checked out (you perverts 😉 ) the store, he tried them on, I continued checking out (the store 🙄 ) and finally we were at the billing counter. Next to us was this absolutely madly deeply in love couple. The girl undoubtedly was gorgeous. There was no way that our radars would not have noticed her. And believe you me, unintentionally and totally unknowingly, we happened to Adams-drop into their conversation. (If eavesdropping is possible, what can’t Adam drop it? 😆 )

She (Showing him a ghastly pink thing. No offence Sree 😀 ) – How do you like this one darling?

He – oh it looks beautiful. Anything and everything looks beautiful on you my love.

(The next few statements need parental guidance for the readers and hence are not included in this post. For those who have had such discussions before, you can very well figure out what ALL would they have spoken/done. And those who haven’t are free to imagine ALL that they would have talked about! )

She (With an awful grimace) – you’re just saying that!

He – Oh no. not at all. Why would I say just like that? It is seriously looking awesome.

She (snatching him away) – I am going to try it again and tell me for sure if you like it

He (With the same expression as Amol Palekar in Choti si Baat) – Ok darling!

I was a little surprised, a little irritated and me being me, I started thinking to myself. Is that what happens when you are in love? Is being in love losing your own self or does it mean discovering yourself newly? Does love make you change so much for one particular person? Ahh… This whole love thing is as intriguing on one hand as it is enigmatic on the other. May be no one really knows what it is.

I was brought back to senses when my friend handed me the Starbucks cappuccino that was my fees for accompanying him for shopping ‘clothes’! Our shopping was done in 5 min flat. And it took 15 minutes of this mushy conversation to allow us to reach the billing counter. Although it was none of my business, just out of curiosity I asked him the occasion for buying the formal wear. He was going to attend his friend’s wedding and the new stuff was to impress the fairer sex. There I was triggered back to my flight of thoughts… yet again…

And so I spew this hopeless rhyme about the person that is not me! 😆

The treacherous turns that the river takes, to destine herself in the vast sea,

The calm and compose that the ocean keeps, blissfully lost in her reverie.

With an open heart, her mellifluous sweetness adorns his brazen salinity,

To fall in love with their disparate waters, is what they are meant to be….

His sky blue expanse engulfs the earth with his magnanimous serenity,

She engrosses him with her lush velvet, elaborating her prosperous beauty.

He rains for her, she blossoms for him, and their love is an ode to divinity,

To be together until they unite at the horizon is what they are meant to be…

A lone traveler is a mere ignorant, endearing his need to be free,

Steering clear through the rough path of life in an enigmatic spree,

To decide the course of the wind and the water is what liberty seems to be,

To be swayed by a tide or a typhoon mere, is the person that is not me!

[Meme] : Untitled – Why should all poems be titled?? This poem does not conform to usual standards…!!

1 Feb

Long long ago, our dear own Megz had tagged this mere mortal to an awesome awesome meme both on the external and corporate blog portals. Both the blog-o-spheres were taken by a storm and everyone fell into the pool of abstraction and title-less poetry.

I am really late in taking up the meme. But, I guess, for Megz, it was a calculated risk that she tagged ME to take it further. And indeed it was with an intention of pumping life into this utterly dead blog. Your efforts have finally paid off Megz. It took me almost a month to be in this state when even Lindor truffles and Tim Horton’s hot chocolate do not seem to be doing a good job of mood elevators and here I am with my reckless bantering in abstraction…

Why does it rain, when it is dry inside?

Why does it pain, when it blossoms outside?

Why do I search for colors in the dark?

Why do my dreams make reality so stark?

Why do I avoid looking at the mirror?

Why do I smile pleasantly in a mysterious fear?

Why do I hum a tune not composed by anyone?

Why is the ruptured divinity of my heart left undone?

Why do I barter my deeds with fate, with a meek hope to win?

Why do I seek solace so soon, despite my self-pitied chagrin?

Why do I have broken walls around, which I try to mend?

Why do I always begin something, of which there is no end?

I wrote most of these couplets at different times and they mostly made their way into my empty head when I was making a genuine attempt to think about “myself” and the series of polluting agents that revolve around this word.

Well, now that I get a chance to pass on this abstraction bug to someone, I tag Borna to take this meme ahead. The rules are simple:-

> The TITLE of the post should be the same as above

> The tags should include poem-with-no-title

> The poem should preferably be just random thoughts and abstract-ish
