Nuts in NY – 3

I must say that the gap between my previous post and this one in this series is not worth calling it a hiatus. I am glad that I could get back with it fairly soon (I know you would be really troubled to see few more MB’s of server space being wasted by my random ramblings. But, FYI, my pleasure! )

It has been over five months that I moved from New York to Pittsburgh and I wanted to write this post while I was in New York. But well, let’s just blame it on Elves! Here I am with the last post of this series…

As the Sun sets, The Hudson sheepishly flows,
Winter arrives again, yet again it snows.
The monotony of shimmer, lights up the sky,
The heaving river, the gushing winds, make me go Nuts in NY!

Seasons change, Seasons bruise, but Manhattan never weeps.
It’s blissful to wake up, in the city that never sleeps.
Smoking chimneys, cabs havoc, jaded city leaves a sigh!
the race, the rut, the glimmer, the dust, make me go Nuts in NY!

1. A fountain at Central Park with a clear sky as the backdrop. Splendid!

2. A view of the skyscrapers from the Empire State. They look like Lego blocks to me

3. Artists at Wall Street. They were terrific!

Nuts in NY – 2

Long long ago, I had decided to do a series of posts about the city that I am living in. Let us keep the reasons of my unsuccessful stint aside. Here I am, with another attempt at having an art attack:-

As the dawn illuminates the dark enigmatic streets,

Manhattan chuckles, heaving a pleasant sigh,

The corners and intersections, energetic again,

Their splendor and radiance, makes me go Nuts in NY!

People rushing to work, with an enormous love for life,

The fragrance of coffee, wishing slumber a good bye,

Being a part of the humdrum, running and making my way through,

Being a part of the crowd, makes me go Nuts in NY!

1. Midtown Manhattan with the Empire State Building lit up in the Indian tricolour on 15th Aug 2009 as seen from my apartment.

2. It was a fine Sunday and my escapade on a cruise on the Hudson landed me up with this picture.

3. Fall colours at Bear Mountain.

4. ‘Vasudaiva Kutumbakam’ – One world, one family! The ‘Om’ gelling in the buzzing glitteratti of Times Square.

5. On an extremely cloudy day, a layer of fog smears the Hudson and the Empire State Building plays hide and seek through them.

Nuts in NY – 1

The Bustling streets, An open sky,

The Glorious Hudson, cruising by,

The breath taking pace, that never seems to die,

Is what makes me go, Nuts in NY

The whirling lanes, that look like a bow tie,

The Statue of Liberty, holding the torch up high,

While atop the Empire State, I wish I could fly,

Is what makes me go, Nuts in NY

It is evident enough that this series of posts is going to be a showcase of how I murder both poetry and photography at the same time  Apart from the hackneyed perception of the city which is rightly called the city that never sleeps, the city of dreams and the financial capital of this planet, there is a lot that one learns about living in a plethora of disparate demography. It is mind blowing to see various cultures mingle and yet have a distinct shade of their own. Without rambling any further, here are some snapshots of “in and around” the city which have made their way to this page.
